China Dam

The picture here is a dam in China that suffered serious damage from the Earthquake. They have had to send over 2,000 troops to try and fix it. For stories on this and other aspects of this disaster, go to cnn.com and research what is going on.

Is the water supposed to be that low? It looks the the wall is supposed to be covered but it is not.

The water isn't really that low...the dam is built to contain the water so it doesn't flood the surrounding areas. Flooding would be BAD b/c it would drown everyone living in the surrounding areas!

Good question.

So is the water flooding parts of China?

The government says that they have the dam under control so I don't believe that any areas are flooding. China's big problem now is that they have millions homeless, thousands still trapped, blocked roads, flattened towns, and aftershocks! YIKES

Have they had anymore aftershocks after the big one you told us about in WG?

I don't believe that they have had any other MAJOR aftershocks. Now comes the business of digging out he deceased and rebuilding.

Sure we have dams like that. In Hanover we have the Impounding Dam! Have you ever heard of the Hoover Dam...it is a huge tourist attraction out West. Most dams allow workers to walk across.

but mr. Lawhead i have heard there are some were people can go across the top as if it were a bridge! Does this apply on this dam?

The whole earthquake thing has been all over the news. They even said that they are still bringing people that are alive out of the remaining debris and stuff after 2 weeks. Wow, that's pretty surprising.

It sometimes is easy to forget that a disaster like this lasts for weeks and months. This disaster will last a lot longer for those people who are directly involved. Glad to see that you are still engaged in what is happening half way around the world!
