5-9-08 Assignment

This is for 9-1 and 9-3 only! Now that you have completed all of the legwork for the Island Project, take a moment and look back on it. Your assignment will be to answer two questions regarding that project.

Question #1 - What should be added to the project for next year? (nothing is not an acceptable answer)

Question #2 - How would you change the project if given the chance? (Note: More time will not be offered)

1)I think we should add for the people to have a state bird even if it is made up and a flower so it will be fun. Imean it was fun but hard

2)I would probably go back and STOP saying like! Also I wasn't sure if I said about the control panel for weather is breakable but we have the germans specialize in that to be sure it will not brake for good!

1. I think that the only thing that wasn't good was the amount of time but everybody looked good in terms of being done.

2. If i had the chance to change this project I'd say NOT to let people do power points because yeah that way they don't have papers but in the time it took to open the power points in total would probably enough time to do a whole other presentation. Also the power points let the kids look at them and not look at the crowd so they were reading right off the screen. my opinion: if you did the project you shouldn't have to look at the screen to get your information! Right??

1. I think that for next year you should add boudries so that kids don't go off track in their presentations.

2. I would change the project next year by allowing the group members to pick their own groups because some groups had trouble getting the work done on time.

1.)Next year I think that you should add a national anthem. Everyone in the group could sing it when they're presenting or you could record it and replay it later.

2.)I think that I would change the project by having 5 in a group instead of 4. Things might get accomplished quicker and it wouldn't take as much time to present. The whole project might go quicker if an extra person was added to each group.

1. I think that you should add more state stuff like the state bird and the state animal and the state tree.
2. If I could change the project I think that I would change the part where you don't have to do a powerpoint but you have to do some sort of presentation. I'm not saying that you had to do a powerpoint in the first place though.

1. I think you should have an example to show people or examples of presentations that you could choose from.

2. If we could change the project, I think we should add some more details to our paragraphs and make our maps more detailed.

1) I think that we should be able to have more time to complete the project. Some people were rushing and didn't do a very good job.

2) I don't think that I would change anything because it was a very good project.

1. We could make a song or national anthem for are community or island.

2. I would put more fun things in the project and make it more enthusiastic.

I think that you should have the power to decide your land area and not just put us on an island.

One thing I would change is how we presented, our powerpoint took like 30 min and that hurt our grade.

1. More science work.
2. Have notecards to read off of.

1) i think that next year the students should have more time to finish it. I also think that we should also have to make models of the island for fun and to see what it is really like.

2)If I could change the project I would change that I would accualy be there. I couldn`t be there becasue I was on a orchestra fieldtrip to harrisburg and a wanted to be there so I could do my project with my group.

1. I think you should assign the jobs and not the the group divide the stuff on the ruler.

2. I would assign the different things on the rubric to different people so that we would know what we individually have to do

I think we should be able to actually MAKE the food we put down, and bring it in, instead of just talking about it. That's what I would add to the project, and I would change it by being able to pick your group. People that get along work better.

1. I think we should have everone add things like state birds, flowers, and possibly an anthem!
2. I would change the project by saying that either everyone had to do a powerpoint, or no one could do one. This would be decided on with voting. The reason why (and this happened to my group and some others) is that when the person before or after you does a powerpoint, it makes yours not look as good.

1. What should be added to the project for next year is we should be able to pick our own group with who we think we can work best with because not all the teachers know who we get along with or who we work better with...

2. If I could change it I wouldn't make everyone have so much information. When they presented it, it was way too long and it got really boring. I don't think we should be graded on how we present it because it's not like we are in a college class where it has to be perfect. And some of us are quieter than others so it really isn't fair to some people.

1. The thing that I think should be added to the project is to have a state bird, andimal, and flower.

2. I think that for next year they should be able to pick your own partners because then you will work better together and the you would pick your friedns and so you can trust them on getting stuff done that you ask them to do it and you won't have to stress out.

1. I think that you should have more work in what th ecommunity is actullly like and not just maps of it.

2. I think that you should have 5 people instead of 4 in the groups. It would be alot easier.

1. I think you should make them act like they live in teh community one day.

2. I would take some stuff off the rubbric. I also think for the
project you can say that either everyone has to do a powerpoint, or no one could do one.

1. I think for next year you should make people have rivers, ponds\lakes, seas, plateaus, and mountains and make them make up their own names for them.

2. I think that you should allow more people to be in a group and let them pick groups with their friends so they could go over to eachothers houses and be able to work on it.

I think you should add some negative things about the island and the things you put in it and maybe have them make a model of their city.

i think that if I had to change something about the project it would be that you would get to pick your groups but you have to have two boys and girls in each group that way you could pick people that would work hard and not get a bad grade because the teammates you were assigned didn't do their work.

1)I think you should have them come up with a capital for the island and an example of what kind of names the people there have. (ex. James or Adolphe)

2)I would allow them to pick groups as long as it's 2 guys and 2girls because some groups didn't work well with the groups they had.

1.I think we should add things about your island. Like a nickname, bird, flower, etc.

2. I would change the part where you don't have to do a power point. It takes a long time to open them up. Kids still have tom do a presentation though
