What to do for a paper cut!

Why do kids need bandaids for a stinkin paper cut? Maybe I went a little bit over-the-top with the size of this bandaid! Got everyone a good laugh though.

Student Work 101!!!

A HUGE thanks to Lydia V. who drew this half-man and half-mustang. What an unbelievable drawing. This will be hanging in my room for as long as I teach. Thanks again!!

Table of Contents Update 2-22-10

Here is the order that your Table of Contents should generally be in:

8. Five Themes Examination
9. Chapter 3 Vocabulary
10. Wheel of Culture/Culture Squares
11. What Culture Looks Like
12. Chapter 3 Study Guide
13. Wall of Culture
14. Chapter 18 Vocabulary

A good strategy for keeping worksheets in order is to number the worksheet itself in one of the top corners. That was a suggestion from a student! Please remember that you do not have all the papers listed above. I have a few of them for grading purposes.

Interesting Article

Interesting article on the TweenTribune website about what countries we "like" and "dislike." Especially interesting considering what unit we are starting with.

Blizzard Mania 2010!!

How crazy is this weather! I know I got at least 18-24 inches at the Casa de Lawhead...and that was ON TOP OF the two and a half feet we had gotten during the weekend!! Anyhow, it looks like we won't be in school until at least Friday. The schedule will get crazy here for a few days so we will just have to adjust and adapt. Enjoy the time off and stay warm.

A new way for us to research!

Google and Diigo were a few words thrown out there today in class. Let me reprint my directions about what I need you to do.

1. CREATE A GOOGLE ACCOUNT
You will need to create a google account if you have not already done so. This account can be closed/deleted at the end of the semester if you choose to. The google account is vital to sign into Diigo. IMPORTANT....if you already have a Yahoo account for email, you will NOT need to create a google account.

2. JOIN MY DIIGO GROUP.
You will need to join the Diigo group for your period. Go to www.diigo.com and click on the "Groups" icon. You will need to search for your group (wgperiod2, wgperiod4, wgperiod8) and then try and join that group. Make sure that you when you sign in, you click on the Google icon or Yahoo icon towards the top.

These two tools will be very helpful in our researching and note-taking this year. If you are having problems, please come and see me before or after class. Thanks.

Abby Sunderland was featured on Channel One today. I think it is pretty cool that someone this young is trying to accomplish something so difficult. Below are her personal blog and official website. Check them out!
